Congratulations to all runners who completed the 2009 Bespak GEAR, once again we had some excellent performances, personal bests, personal achievements, thousands of pounds raised for various charities and a most enjoyable day. For those who for one reason or another couldn’t make it, please try again, we really want everyone to come along and enjoy this unique event.
We made a number of changes to the layout of the Start/Finish area for the 2009 race which improved the flow through the finish area, we also introduced much needed crowd control barriers throughout the town and busy areas, this improved the safety aspect and crowd management and one comment received from many runners was “It gave a more professional feel to the race”.
O.k. let’s look forward - the 2010 event is the fifth Bespak GEAR, the course remains the same for the third year in a row and those established course records are there to be broken.
Paul Evans our technical adviser has put together three training plans this year and whatever your ability there is one that should suit you. It goes without saying that Paul does know what he is talking about when it comes to running and if you follow one of these plans you will get results! Paul, Tim & Pauline Ash will be hosting a couple of training evenings at Lynnsport on Wednesday 24th March and Wednesday 21st April, in addition to the training evenings, there will be two Sunday morning training sessions at Sandringham - these dates will be announced on this website so keep looking. We will keep you updated with ongoing information right up to Race Day - 2nd May 2010.
Please note, for 2010 we are not giving away free cotton t-shirts, instead we are subsidising the cost of technical t-shirts made of quality breathable fabric with the Bespak GEAR logo and offering them in 4 sizes for only £5.00 each, in addition, and to compliment the t-shirt we are also offering a quality cap in the same colour with the Bespak GEAR logo for only £4.00.
The race goes from strength to strength, but with each year it becomes more costly to organise and our huge thanks go to Bespak who have been the event’s main sponsor from its beginning in 2006 and are continuing right through to 2011. There is no doubt that it would be difficult to organise each year without their generous sponsorship and input, a big THANK YOU to Bespak. It means a great deal to all of us on the race team and gives a huge boost for King’s Lynn, its people and the race.
I would also like to thank the many other businesses that also contribute towards the event, you will find their logos on this website, there are many individuals who give up their time to help on the day and without their support the event just could not happen - many thanks.
That’s it for the moment, it’s still difficult times and I sincerely hope that it is not affecting too many of you out there, it is tough, but as I and many others maintain, running gives the mind and body the resilience to get through tough times and it doesn’t cost a fortune. However, whatever your ability, train well, keep focused and I hope that we will see you on 2nd May 2010.
Regards to you all, keep checking this website.
